Outline

The Achievements extension lets your learners gain points, stars and badges. With the Achievements extension, you bring your course to life using gamification.

This article provides an overview of Achievements extension, extension setup and provides examples of Achievements extension configurations.

Extension overview


The Achievements extension lets your learners gain points, stars and badges. With the Achievements extension, you bring your course to life using gamification.

You enable the Achievements extension in the Extension section in your Evolve course.

Extension set up


Follow these steps to enable the Achievements extension in your Evolve course:

Click the Extensions tab in your course.

  1. Scroll down to the Achievements extension and toggle to enable the extension.
  2. Click the Edit button and begin set up.

General section

In the General section:

In the General section, start by adding an Achievements Title. This is the title shown on the main achievements page.

  1. Add an Achievements Body Text. This is the body text shown on the main achievements page. Use the text editor to style and format your text, as needed.
  2. Add Achievement Page Aria Label as needed.

Hero Image Section


In the Hero Image section:

In the Hero Image section, toggle to Add Hero Image. This will show a hero image for the Achievements extension.

  1. In the Hero Image Content section, add a Hero Image Title.
  2. Add a Hero Image Body. Use the text editor to style and format your text, as needed.

In the Hero Image Graphic section:

  1. Select a Hero Image to display.
  2. Set Image Per Device Size, as needed.
  3. Add Hero Image Alt Text as needed.

Scroll down to make settings for Hero Image Content Layout.

  1. Set Hero image title and body container layout. By default, this is set to Center.
  2. Set Hero image title and body container width. By default, this is set to 70.

In the Hero Image Floating Graphic section:

  1. Select a Floating Graphic.
  2. Add Floating Graphic Alt Text, as needed.
  1. Set Floating Graphic Position. By default, this is set to Bottom right.
  2. Set Floating Graphic Offset Position.
  3. Toggle to Show on Large Screen Size Only.

Appearance Section


  1. In the Appearance section, select Achievements Navigation Button Icon. This icon will be displayed in the navigation.
  2. Add an Achievements Header Icon. This icon will be displayed in the course assessment results header.
  3. By default, the setting Show Top Navigation Achievements Button is enabled, and the Achievements button is shown in the top navigation bar. Toggle to disable this setting.
  4. By default, the setting Show Side Navigation Achievements Button is enabled, and the Achievements button is shown in the side navigation bar. Toggle to disable this setting.

Heads up!

The icons set in the Appearance section will override the icons set in the theme.

Points Section


  1. In the Points section, toggle to Enable Points. Enabling this will enable Points functionality on the course.
  2. Scroll down and add a Points Title. The Points Title is displayed anywhere points is shown.
  3. Add Points Description. This text is shown on the main achievements page for the points section. Use the text editor to style and format your text, as needed.
  1. Add a Points Label.
  2. Add Default Points.
  3. Enable and Set Components Points. Click the button Show Components to enable Points and set Points awarded for each component:

Lives Section


  1. In the Lives section, toggle to Enable Lives. Enabling this will enable Lives functionality on the course.
  2. Scroll down and add a Lives Title. The Lives Title is displayed anywhere lives is shown.
  3. Add Lives Description. This text is shown on the main achievements page for the lives section. Use the text editor to style and format your text, as needed.
  1. Add a Lives Label.
  2. Add Total Lives. This is the total number of lives allowed through the course, and by default, this is set to 3.
  3. Toggle to allow Reset Course when the number of lives left decreases to zero.

Stars Section


  1. In the Stars section, toggle to Enable Stars. Enabling this will enable Stars functionality on the course.
  2. Scroll down and add a Stars Title. The Stars Title is displayed anywhere stars is shown.
  3. Add Stars Description. This text is shown on the main achievements page for the stars section. Use the text editor to style and format your text, as needed.
  1. Add a Stars Label.
  2. Add a Stars Left Label. This is the number of stars that are left to be collected.
  3. Add a Stars Missed Label. This is the number of stars that have been missed on the course.
  4. Enable and Set Component Stars. Click the button Show Components to enable Stars for each component:

Heads up!

Stars can only be set on question components.

Badges Section


  1. In the Badges section, toggle to Enable Badges. Enabling this will enable Badges functionality on the course.
  2. Scroll down and add a Badges Title. The Badges Title is displayed anywhere badges is shown.
  3. Add a Badges Description. This text is shown on the main achievements page for the badges section. Use the text editor to style and format your text, as needed.
  1. Add a Badges Label.
  2. Add a Badges notify title. This title is shown on a notify when the learner earns a badge.
  3. Click the button Create Badge:

Create and customize the badge as needed.

Badges Items Section


In the Badges Items section, you Add Badge Items to your Achievements extension.

For each Badge Item:

  1. Add a Badge Title. This is the title of the Badge.
  2. Add a Badge Description. This is the description of the Badge. Use the text editor to style and format your text, as needed.
  1. Scroll down and add a Badge Image.
  2. Add Image Alt Text as needed.
  1. Choose how the badge can be achieved in the setting for Select Badge Completion. Choose from the options Components completed, Points collected, or Stars collected.
  2. When selecting Components completed. Select the Components with Badges by clicking the button Show Components and select components.
  1. When selecting Points collected for how the badge can be achieved:
  2. Select the Components with Badges by clicking the button Show Components and select components.
  3. Set the number of Points required to achieve the badge.
  1. When selecting Stars collected for how the bade can be achieved:
  2. Select the Components with Badges by clicking the button Show Components and select components.
  3. Set the number of Stars required to achieve the badge.

Add, duplicate and delete Badge Items as needed.
