Outline

The Matching component is a question component that lets you test whether your learners can match the right option to a given question.

This article provides an overview of the Matching component, component setup and behavior, and examples of Matching component configurations.

Component overview

The Matching component is an interactive question component that lets you give your learners options to choose from and match with the Matching component question. You can have any number of questions and options inside a single Matching component.

The Matching component is fully responsive and can be part of an assessment or used as a separate component in your Evolve course.

  1. Click Add Component.

Example 2 - This example shows the different options for the Matching component question.

Example 3 – This example shows the Feedback popup dialog displayed after the question has been submitted.

Behaviour section

In the Behaviour section, you enter how many Attempts the learner is allowed for the Matching component Question. You can enable to Display Attempts Counter and select to Randomize Answers, as needed.

Finally, you can change the default Placeholder text in the Behaviour section. This text appears in the top level of your components drop-down.

Feedback section

The Feedback section lets you tailor feedback for correct, partly correct, or incorrect answered questions. Feedback can be displayed on the page, beneath the Matching component or in a notification popup.

For each type of feedback, you can choose to include:

  • global feedback set up

  • custom text as feedback

  • custom imagery as feedback

  • a link to a specific part of your course; if, for example, learners should revisit a particular section

  • a feedback style that overrides the theme styles settings
